Politician: wouldn’t wanna be one.
Hi, my name is Axel.
I’m not a lawyer. I wanted to be one, once.
For about 15 minutes.
Then I realized I couldn’t possibly read all those books.
And I don’t want to end up being a politician.
I have nothing against them, but I don’t like sales.
And they are always selling.
Sometimes you can’t tell, because politicians talk a lot.
Inside their heads, it’s all sales.
Selling us on their abilities, experience, and what they can do for us.
Naturally if we can afford a small financial contribution, they will
be forever grateful.
And if a politician says anything out of line, like comments on some religion or
moral issue, they get crucified by the media.
But for this thing called democracy to really work, somebody needs to stand
up and ask for your vote.
Just not me!
So I took to writing instead. It’s great.
I never have to walk through unfamiliar neighborhoods, knocking on doors,
wondering if that barking dog is going to bite.
I never talk to people I don’t like.
And I can say it out loud. “I don’t like everybody.”
Reporters don’t come after me looking for comments and opinions.
I’ve never been on the six o’clock news.
(other then one time after a Rememberance Day ceremony.
I spoke about why it’s important to remember our guys.)
So politics and the politicians is a sideline. Except on Election Day.
You gotta get off your ass and vote.
There is no excuse big enough to forgive somebody who doesn’t vote.
Just do it!!
Thanks for stopping by.
